What I treat

Transcutaneous Blepharoplasty for Upper and Lower Eyelids

Lower eyelid blepharoplasty through a skin approach is one of the surgical techniques used to enhance the appearance of the lower eyelid, by addressing the bulging of fat under the eye and removing excess skin when necessary. The procedure is performed through a fine surgical incision below the lower lashes, allowing the surgeon to address the fat and skin together.

Who it's for

This procedure is suitable for individuals who experience puffiness under the eyes accompanied by sagging skin or excess skin, such that there is a need to address both issues simultaneously. It may also be suitable for certain cases that suffer from sagging or weakness in the lower eyelid.

What to expect

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, with or without sedation, or under general anesthesia depending on the case. A precise surgical incision is made below the lower eyelashes, through which access is gained to the fat, which can be partially removed or redistributed as needed, in addition to removing excess skin when present. After completion, the incision is closed with fine sutures, and the scar is usually hidden below the eyelashes and becomes less noticeable as the wound heals. It is normal for some swelling and bruising to occur after the procedure, and these symptoms improve gradually during the recovery period.
